Act amendments

Avneel Chand
Friday, December 08, 2017

AMENDMENTS made to the town planning Act will allow quicker processing of applications according to Minister for Housing and Environment, Parveen Kumar.

Mr Kumar made this announcement at the groundbreaking ceremony of the residential subdivision in Davuilevu yesterday.

Mr Kumar told the invited guests that he participated in a workshop which included architects, engineers and consultants to deliberate on the compliance and changes made to the town planning act.

He said the proposed town planning Act was in a draft form, but was expected to be into its effect from 2018.

"Before it comes to its effect next year we thought we should have a stakeholder's meeting, and I can tell you something that after today's meeting we have come to a resolution where we will reduce the number of days that takes place in the processing time that is in terms of building application and land subdivision, " Mr Kumar said.
