ENTERTAINMENT and laughter filled Syria Park in Nausori as the people of Naitasiri Province gathered to celebrate their annual Adi Naitasiri Festival yesterday.

Assistant Roko Tui Naitasiri, Ilaitia Sayavi said the crowd turnout was good despite the wet weather.

"This is a celebration that brings the people of Naitasiri together," Mr Sayavi said.

"This year's theme is based on reviving our culture, tradition and natural resources for our future benefits.

"We have a lot of traditional entertainment that will be presented from each district, they also have an Adi (queen) who will be competing for the best buiniga (iTaukei afro)."

Secretary for the Naitasiri Women's Association Ema Nasilivata said the event was one of the best celebrations compared with that of the past.

"We have seen the products of having such an event," she said.

"This has helped the province a lot in terms of education and other provincial assistance.

"This year is special because it's aimed at reviving our tradition and culture and keeping our natural resources in mind and that's amazing."

The Adi Naitasiri Festival ends today.
