FIJI and Oceania Rugby's attempt to win a leg of the World Rugby Sevens Series continued through the hosting of the Oceania Rugby Sevens Championship in Suva last weekend.

The 2017 edition saw the Fiji Airways 7s team retaining the men's title after beating New Zealand.

The Kiwis dethroned Australia to return with the women's title.

The tournament was launched with a cocktail on Thursday night where Sports Minister Laisenia Tuitubou outlined Fiji's appreciation of hosting the tournament until 2019 and Government's assistance in the bid to win a leg of the world series.
