VODAFONE Fiji Bati and Brisbane Broncos player, Korbin Sims is proud to be representing his mother's heritage in the Rugby League World Cup.

Sims, who did not play in last week's Pacific Tri-Nations Test is nursing an arm injury but is expected to have a clean bill of health in Brisbane next week.

Yesterday, he travelled with former Fiji Bati captain Petero Civoniceva, Fiji Bati assistant coach Jo Dakuitoga and NRL development officer John Jewiss to visit the villages of Rokovuaka, Nalalawa and Tobu to give training gear worn by the Fiji Bati players last week. He introduced himself to the villagers as being from Ba adding that it was a humbling experience to have played in the 2013 RLWC alongside his elder brothers Ashton and Tariq.

"We are fortunate to have won the Fiji Bati training gear for the Pacific Tri-Nations Test but we are more proud to be passing it on to you all today," Sims said.

Most of the members of the Nababa Rabbitohs who come from the three villages are farmers and were not present yesterday.

However, those who were there were quite appreciative of the gesture from the Fiji Bati side.

Dakuitogoa explained that the decision to give the gear were made by senior players such as Jarryd Hayne, Ashton and James Storer.

"I know that your villages were devastated by a hurricane last year, we apologise that what we have brought is not much but this is a form of our appreciation and support for you all," Sims said.

Meanwhile, Fiji will send its first national rugby league team to the Commonwealth Games festival in February next year.

The format, however, will not be 13 players but nine players.

Jewiss urged the men of Ra to encourage their women to attend the national trials that would be held on November 25.

Ra has a women's rugby league team and some of its players featured in the East versus West battle at the ANZ Stadium on October 7.
