Women's 7s cancelled

THE women's category in this week's Redstream Investment Masada Youth CMF Bua 7s has been cancelled.

Tournament co-ordinator Akuila Turaganiqali said most teams that registered for this category withdrew their participation. The tournament begins tomorrow at the Wairiki Village grounds in Bua with 20 teams for the major competition and 10 teams for the U19 category.

"We had to cancel the women's rugby because teams won't be able to participate," he said.

"Most of the teams included students and because they are preparing for their exams, we agreed to their cancellation of participation. It does not mean that we will leave them out totally."

Turaganiqali said another rugby tournament would be held in December to cater for women.

"The tournament will be held for the sake of village development and because it is the holidays, it will be easy to involve students," Turaganiqali said.
