FIJI Airways national 7s coach Gareth Baber has a bigger responsibility as to who he will select to captain the side in the next HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series.

Baber said he was still looking for the player he thinks would lead the team but for the time being all experienced players had been putting extra effort into their training.

He added a mixture of both experienced and new players will help him get the best team come Central Coast and Oceania 7s.

"I was pleased with the form of some of the old players who went to Germany and they are pushing themselves again in training as I want to put experienced players to help us develop as well," he said.

"We have players such as Kalione Nasoko, Mesulame Kunavula, Jasa Veremalua and Apisai Domolailai rubbing shoulders with young players.

"They are doing a good job having different standards in terms of development and learning and they have competed well during the camp we had in Sigatoka.

"We have positive feedbacks and it's important that the newbies have the chance to show what they are all about."

Baber said each player had different speed, power to become a playmaker but being disciplined and having a good attitude are some qualities he was looking for in a player.

"We're at our best when we're working ourselves consistently and we've done our best and we will continue.

"They all know what the work ethics is all about and we're not quite there in terms of where we need to be for the world series yet but we're working on that in terms of how we plan our development as I said it's a long season.

"With the 7s series and the Sevens World Cup, it's a big challenge for the boys to be able to keep to that level."

The team had their training session at the Uprising Beach resort ground at Pacific Harbour yesterday.
