Maciu Malo
Friday, October 13, 2017

TAILEVU/NAITASIRI defeated Nadogo 1-0 in the Courts Inter District Championship Senior Division last round of pool games to secure a spot in the semi-final.

The side will face Nadroga while the other semi-final will see Navua battling Savusavu.

Tailevu/Naitasiri centre back Shivneel Chand was the toast of his team scoring the lone goal of the game as the side reset its focus for the do-or-die semi-final clash against Nadroga tomorrow.

Head coach Sureshwar Prasad said the side had achieved its primary target of qualifying to the next stage of the competition and the focus was to fulfil its ultimate goal of winning the top award.

He said the players had worked hard to reach this far.

"We are happy to have gone past the pool games and I thank the players for their effort, ' said Prasad.

"I believe the road is tough from here and we need to play as team.

"This is a do-or-die game and we cannot afford to commit basic mistakes.'

He said the semi-final battle against the unbeaten Nadroga side would be an uphill battle.

"We are up against a tough team but I have faith in my boys that we can deliver the goods. We had won this title few years ago and we believe we can do it again this year," he added.

The semi-final will be at Lautoka's Churchill Park tomorrow.

Senior Division day 3 results.

Nadroga 1 Savusavu 0, Rakiraki 2 Lami 1, Tailevu Naitasiri 1 Nadogo 0, Navua 1 Seaqaqa 0
