A COMPANY that has become a household name thanks to its quality products and service over the years opened its third branch in Nakasi yesterday.

Mahesh Syndicate general manager Vinay Kumar said they opened their newest branch in the Rups Nakasi mall because Nakasi was a fast developing area.

Mr Kumar said they had operated their branch in Nausori for the about 25 years, but closed it five years ago as things were not looking good.

But he said requests from their customers in Nausori and Nakasi had also given them the idea to open their branch in Nakasi.

Mr Kumar said the company directors realised that not many people went to the city to shop because of issues with parking and time and they prefered to shop after work and after hours, at their own leisure.

"So with the late opening hours at this mall we will be able to target those customers who prefer to shop after hours," he said.

Mr Kumar said they were focusing on stocking up on firecrackers in time for Diwali fnext week and then later they would add more shelves in the shop for other products that would be included in the inventory.

"Our investment in this outlet is ongoing as we still have a lot of work that has to be done, but this week we are concentrating on fireworks because Diwali is just next week and as always people will be looking for firecrackers in the last minute," he said.

Mr Kumar said Nakasi was one of the biggest and fastest growing areas and they believed their decision to open a branch in Nakasi would prove profitable.

The shop employs nine people, but Mr Kumar said they would increase staff numbers to 15 during the weekends to cater for the large number of shoppers who would go through their doors.
