Tevita Vuibau
Wednesday, September 20, 2017

AFTER nine days sailing 400 nautical miles to Lomaiviti, Moala and Matuku, the Uto ni Yalo returned to Suva yesterday.

The crew of the vessel undertook the voyage to showcase low carbon sea transport as a possible alternative to using motor- boats, not only between islands in the Fiji Group but also between Pacific Island countries.

Uto ni Yalo Trust secretary Dwain Qalovaki said with 90 per cent of global goods transported by sea, there was a need to show that clean transport was a viable alternative to burning fossil fuels.
