Kiribati region records 5.2 mag quake

Update: 3:09PM A 5.2 MAGNITUDE earthquake was recorded in the Kiribati region this afternoon.

The Seismology Unit of Fiji's Department of Mineral Resources reported that the earthquake occurred at 12.29pm, at a 10km depth.

The seismic activity was located 465km South from Bairiki, Kiribati, 1556km Northeast from Honiara, Solomon Is, and 1820km North-northwest from Suva, Fiji.

The department has assured that this moderate size earthquake did not pose any immediate threat to the Fiji region.
