Survey: Iconic chocolate brand scoops popularity

GUESS what is as popular as the All Blacks in New Zealand? Believe it or not, it's chocolate.

Whittaker's chocolate has been voted the most loved brand for the sixth consecutive year in the annual Colmar Brunton survey.

The "most trusted brand" of chocolates also sources ginger from Fijian farms for one of their artisan collection blocks and is already making inroads in the Fijian market.

Earlier this year Whittaker's was named the most trusted brand in the annual Reader's Digest survey.

"Whittaker's is honoured to have received these awards because they are decided by the New Zealand public," Whittaker's marketing manager Holly Whittaker told the New Zealand Herald.

"Established over 120 years ago, we remain a family-owned company that is proud to have become an iconic New Zealand brand and we'd like to thank the public for their continued support."

Meanwhile, customers in Fiji have access to an extensive range of Whittaker's chocolates through a distribution partnership between Motibhai Group and the iconic Kiwi brand.

The exclusive partnership will see the distributions of the sweet treat in Motibhai's chain of Prouds duty-free stores nationwide.

Whittaker's head of international markets Matt Whittaker, who was on a short market familiarisation visit to Fiji last month, highlighted that the partnership would further make Whittaker's brand of chocolates a household name in Fiji.

Motibhai Group director Tejash Patel, in a statement, said Fijian customers were getting adventurous and bolder to try new things.

"With this being the case, Whittaker's chocolate is definitely one of the best choices for them," he said.

Mr Patel said they were now giving a large percentage of the Fijian population the opportunity to taste something new.
