Healthy skin is her forte

THERE is something special about Fiji that made Vanu Lodhia move here and try to set up a business of her own focusing on Fijian herbs and its richness.

Considering the lovely nature of our surroundings, the herbalist decided that it would be best for her to work in Fiji's environment and engage herself in trying out herbs surrounding Fiji's pristine location and how she could work on those herbs to produce the best herbal cure for lovely, healthier skin.

She moved to Fiji three years ago after having spent 10 years in New Zealand because she hoped to assist Fijians have a better understanding of their skin and what they could do to maintain a healthy one.

"There are a lot of skin issues, oily foods and what it does to the skin and people need to be made aware of the right thing," Ms Lodhia said.

"I have seen that Fijians are very much into herbal remedies and this encourages me to work on these Fijian herbal medicines and see the best combination out of this.

"Because Fiji is a tropical country, people are not very much aware of the type of skin they have so what I do is when someone has skin issues, I check their skin and work on the root cause as to what happens, how it happens and what they can do to improve their skin texture."

There is a dire need for Fijians to focus on their skin and how they can always maintain a healthy one and according to Ms Lodhia, making use of the wide range of herbs and plants around us will of course help maintain a healthy skin.

While in Fiji, she has never wasted a day doing her own projects and research on the different herbs she comes across which she hopes will bring out the best results for her customers and for many other Fijians who maybe interested in her work.

"Many times, people tend to ignore the fact that there is something wrong with their skin but never have the urge to actually visit a specialist and try find out the cure or how it could be improved.

"This is why I am here and I love to help Fijians understand that there are always ways to look after our skin."
