Former Dudley headboy believes in character development

Update: 4:35PM CHARACTER development is an important part of being a student at Dudley High School.

Dr Richard Wah highlighted this in an interview today with the Fiji Times Online as he joined in the celebration of the 120th year since the existence of the Toorak-based school.

The 64-year-old gentleman from Wainibuka, who was the third head boy of the school, was enjoying the fellowship and catching up with other old scholars who turned up at the school for the celebration.

He said the modern education system had moved towards academic excellence rather than character development.

"And that is one thing we are trying to bring back to the school," Mr Wah said.

"We are trying to build the character of the school back."

The father of four, an academic by profession, attended Dudley High School from 1966 to 1971.

Meanwhile, the anniversary dinner will be held at the Studio 6 tomorrow evening and a thanksgiving church service will be held at 2pm at Dudley Church on Sunday September 3, 2017.
