Chetty: Rain a blessing

Felix Chaudhary
Tuesday, August 22, 2017

THE wet weather experienced in the Western Division is a blessing, says the Sugar Cane Growers Council.

Council's CEO Sundresh Chetty said because of the long period of dry weather over the past few months, cane plants had been affected.

"Sugar cane is a resilient plant but what happens when there is no rainfall over a very long period, the plants tend to dry up a little bit, so the rain we are experiencing is good in ensuring the present crop is revitalised," he said.
