True love is the joy of life

JASMINE and Ben Murdie first landed their eyes on each other in a butcher shop five years ago.

Despite all odds, things turned out to be the way it should be for them as their friendship developed into love and this was when they knew straightaway they were made for each other.

Jasmine, 25, works as a butcher while Ben, 40, is a diesel fitter and they both live in Australia.

They had their careers and would meet as often as they could. There was always that love string that pulled them back together.

When the time was right, the couple decided to tie the knot and what better way to celebrate their five-year courtship than to visit a paradise they longed to see — Fiji. On the encouragement of friends about this heavenly slice of paradise, the couple decided to seal their love right here in the islands.

After a few convincing conversations with friends, they decided to travel to a place they have never seen, thousands of kilometres away from home, a paradise in the heart of the South Pacific.

And the perfect setting was at the Outrigger Fiji Beach Resort where it all happened.

The lovely introduction from the staff members followed by the warm bula Fijian welcome and the lovely weather made the couple feel right at home.

"All the people we spent time with outside the resort were great people," the couple said.

The wedding, a small one, was attended by 10 close friends and workers of Outrigger Fiji Beach Resort.

Jasmine wore a beautiful wedding gown she bought from a shop in Australia and her hair and make-up were done by Christine and Apikali of Wavelengths Salon.

The groom got his outfit from Sapplers America.

So what does marriage mean to them?

Friendship. Love. Acceptance. Being there for each other for the rest of their lives.

"We are best friends and we've have just made it official. Ben is so caring and gives me all his love," Jasmine said.

Ben had proposed to Jasmine in New Zealand on a tall ship in the Bay of Islands.

Their wedding ceremony was followed by their honeymoon where they enjoyed the full Fijian and Coral Coast hospitality.
