LANKY under-16 Ratu Kadavulevu School lock Joeli Niumataiwalu gave an outstanding man of the match performance to help his side hold off a relentless Lelean Memorial School to win 22-18 at the ANZ Stadium, yesterday.

Niumataiwalu was very influential in every aspect of the game, and according to him, he is working towards becoming the first member of his family to don the Flying Fijians jerysey.

"I am aiming to become a Flying Fijian one day and I wish to dedicate this win to my parents Laisiasa Niumataiwalu and Losalini Tokalaulala for their support and guidance," Niumataiwalu said.

His rugby journey began in Labasa, when he featured for the Macuata under-14 provincial team, and began playing in the under-15 grade for RKS last year.

The Year 10 student said his motivation for every game was to play to win and to enjoy the game.

The two Eastern Zone giants met in what was a tight and very physical encounter that left fans cheering and leaving them at the edge of their seats for the duration of the match. They became the third RKS team to win their final, after their under-14 and under-15 grades winning over QVS, (U14, 9 -7 and U15, 18-17).

"I would like to thank all the RKS community for their support and the win here is dedicated to all of them especially to all our families, he said.
