RATU Kadavulevu School under-17 team continued the good form they showed in the first three final of the 2017 Coke Zero Deans after winning against Lelean Memorial School 16-13 at the ANZ Stadium yesterday.

Lelean opened scoring with a penalty in the fifth minute to take lead 3-0.

RKS replied with in a penalty to level scores 3-3 in the 15th minute.

LMS lock Donasio Vulivuli scored the first try of the game and the conversion was unsuccessful as they led 8-3.

Ratu Kadavulevu returned the favour with a beautiful try from Lekima Vakatawatoqi to see scores level again 8-8 in the first half.

Sireli Maqata of RKS opened the second half with a penalty kick to see them in front 11-8.

LMS flanker Metuisela Seuta was sent to the sin bin and RKS used the difference in numbers to score a try to flanker Alivereti Loaloa. The conversion was unsuccessful and RKS led 16-8

Etonia Bainivalu of Lelean scored an unconverted try but it was too late as the boys from Delainakaikai held on to be crowned under-17 grade champion.

Lelean right centre Etonia Bainivalu was given the player of the match award winning $200 and a trip of his choice to New Zealand or Australia.

RKS coach Jone Magiti anticipated that Lelean was going to come strong on them.

"It was great game and the boys were resilient, stayed positive and came out as winners," Magiti said.

"We thank our parents for the moral support and the school principal and it was a team effort that involved parents, old scholars and the school and to top that all the boys themselves were amazing."
