Roosters survive Titans attack

Ra Roosters survived a powerful Nasinu Titans surge to win the premier grade encounter 22-20 at Lautoka's Churchill Park yesterday.

Laced with majority of the Burenitu Cowboys players and Namuaniwaqa Sea Eagles, the Roosters stood firm defending their turf to kick start their Vodafone Fiji National Rugby League Zone championship with a win.

Nasinu which has the services of Nadera Panthers, Kinoya Sea Eagles and Makoi Bulldogs gave their best but it failed to deter the Roosters from achieving their goal.

Tournament official Joe Savou said the competition was a good platform for local players to expose their talents.

He said the tournament attracted cream players from various team to feature in their district.

Savou said the tournament also showcased some exciting talents in the women and under 20 players.

'Very exciting a good platform to gauge our local players performance from under 20 womens and premier, ' he said.

Meanwhile, the Titans defeated the Roosters 22-16 in the under 20 grades while the women teams drew 12-all.
