MALAKAI Tiwa put up a master class performance to guide Ba to a 4-0 victory against Rewa in the Vodafone Premier League at Govind Park yesterday.

Back in the starting line up from nursing an injury, Tiwa was at his best marshalling the Ba midfield.

Tiwa proved to be the star in the match scoring a hat-trick to elevate the Men in Black to the second spot on the VPL points table ahead of Labasa and in contention for a berth in the 2018 Oceania Champions League.

The 30-year-old scored from the penalty spot in the 27th minute to hand the home side a 1-0 lead at half-time.

Rewa was reduced to ten players after striker Iosefo Verevo received his marching orders for a second yellow card in the opening minutes of the second spell.

This proved to be the turning point in the fixture as Ba took control.

Tiwa awed the Ba fans with a terrific strike in the 57th minute. Witnessing Rewa goalkeeper Simione Tamanisau out of his box, Tiwa drove the ball high from 40 metres towards the goalmouth.

Tamanisau back paddling managed to tap the ball, but it landed inside the net.

Sitiveni Cavuilagi scored the third goal in the 84th minute following a Meli Codro back heel while Tiwa completed his hat-trick with a drive in the dying stages.

Ba team coach Arvind Singh said Tiwa made a big difference.

"We are very happy with the result playing against a champion side," Singh said.

"Malakai certainly made a big difference. The association is pleased to note that the fans came out in big numbers to support the team.

"The boys are combining well and we hope to field a strong team in the Inter District Championship."
