JAY-Z has revealed his marriage to Beyonce "wasn't totally built on the truth" and "started cracking" in a candid video chat.

It comes after the rapper appeared to confess to cheating during their nine-year marriage, even hinting he enjoyed threesomes behind her back on his new album 4:44, reports The Sun.

He has now followed up the release of his new album with a "footnotes" video where he chats with fellow celebs like Chris Rock, Will Smith, Kendrick Lamar and Jessie Williams.

In the clip the group talk about what it's like to have their relationships played out in the public eye.

He said: "This is my real life. I just ran into this place and we built this big, beautiful mansion of a relationship that wasn't totally built on the 100 per cent truth and it starts cracking.

"Things start happening that the public can see.

"Then we had to get to a point of 'OK, tear this down and let's start from the beginning.' It's the hardest thing I've ever done."

Jay-Z also opened up about begging Beyonce to stay on their holiday after realising what he'd done.

"I was on a boat, and I had the best time. I was like, 'Man, this is great.'

"Then she had to leave. I was, like, crushed.

"Man, I don't even feel like this. What is happening to my body right now? I don't even feel like this. Did I just say … 'Don't leave'?"
