A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A PHOTOGRAPHER

Shayal Devi
Thursday, April 20, 2017

As wedding photographers, what is your:

Daily schedule like: Our daily schedule is so random. One day we could wake up at 5.30am to shoot a sunrise session somewhere exotic and on the other, we could wake up at midday and remain in our pyjamas all day. We don't have a set routine and we like it that way. There are a lot of plane and boat rides involved along with staying at resorts all the time and then crashing at home and refuelling ourselves for the next shoot.

Preparation for a shoot: It all starts from the day a couple books a photo shoot. We go through a process to get to know them and then we book transport and accommodation if necessary and prepare our gear the day before and making sure we have everything.

Biggest pet peeve: Resorts who have their own wedding packages and cut costs on styling the ceremony and reception the same for the last decade, using cheap and tacky materials.

A must have for every photographer: Photography needs to be a passion. Anyone who takes up photography to make money has the wrong motivation and purpose.

Favourite photography platforms: Junebug Weddings and Green Wedding Shoes

Advice/message to up and coming photographers: Under promise but over deliver, dream big and audaciously but back it up with an action plan and action it by working hard.
