PM hands over PIDF chairmanship

Update: 1:54PM SOLOMON Islands Prime Minister Manasseh Sogavare has been appointed as the new chair of the Pacific Islands Development Forum (PIDF).

While handing over the chairmanship at the PIDF Leaders Summit in Honiara, Solomon Islands this morning, Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama said for the past three years, PIDF had reaffirmed and consolidated its purpose through its actions.

"We have convened leaders and citizens in open and inclusive dialogues that are aimed at solving problems," he said.

"We are building for the future and although our accomplishments may seem modest in comparison to our ambitions, we are moving steadily in the right direction. And that direction is definitely forward."
