THE Castaway Bluez rugby 7s team is ready to battle against the local 7s heavyweights in this weekend's Martintar 7s.
The side will be using the tournament to expose the island boys to top-class 7s action against the best in the land.
Team official Biu Waqaniburotu says the team is laced with hotel workers who are willing to use the tournament as an inspirational factor to their fellow workers after hotel closure after Severe Tropical Cyclone Winston.
"The team has been training together in the last one month these boys are all employees of Castaway Island," he said.
"Despite the closure of the resort due to damage left behind by Severe TC Winston, the boys with support of the resort want to show that Fiji and its people are stronger than Winston.
"The team has been training under the guidance of Jone Deku and will be captained by evergreen Rusiate Tavo. This is the second year of their participation in the Martintar 7s and they also want to show their support on the theme "Respect Women and Children; Be a Man".
He said the team would not only make up the numbers but they would do their best to win their pool rounds for the Castaway family.
"The biggest challenge that they will face during the tournament is adjusting to the size of the ground as they only train on the beach or between the coconut trees. We do not have a playground so we train in whatever space we can find around the resort, but we will give our best to win our first game."
The tournament will be held at Prince Charles Park.
