ROSIE Holidays scooped three of the four awards it was nominated for at last night's ANZ Fiji Excellence in Tourism Awards.

The premier event, rewarding excellence in 14 categories, was attended by more than 500 people from 70 properties.

Speaking at the awards, Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama said tourism was a key part of the Fiji's growth.

He said while world tourism was competitive, stakeholders in Fiji collaborated to raise standards.

"I am proud to say that 2015 was a record year for tourism both in number of visitors and earnings," he said.

"There were 754,835 visitor arrivals in 2015, a remarkable nine per cent increase over 2014. And we continued to increase our penetration or hold our own in our traditional markets while seeing some encouraging growth in new markets.

"Our three largest markets - Australia, New Zealand and the United States - all grew from 5 to 10 per cent, while for the first time, China became our fourth-largest market. And there was no significant decrease in arrivals from any market, with slight increases from throughout Asia and the Pacific Islands.

"Income for the first three quarters was 12 per cent higher than in 2014, at more than 1.15 billion dollars."
