Three people drown

Sunday, March 15, 2015

Update: 8:02PM THREE people drowned in the sea outside Suva a few hours ago.

Police spokesman Inspector Atunaisa Sokomuri confirmed that police recovered a body after a search. Inspector Sokomuri said two other people are still missing. "Police officers tried their best in the past few hours to look for the two bodies but they couldn't find them," he said. "Since it's dark now, the search has been called off and it will resume at first light tomorrow." Insp Sokomuri said details were sketchy at the moment and more information is expected to be released later tonight. The incident happened in waters off Viria East in Vatuwaqa. Insp Sokomuri reminded people to take heed of the Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama's advice at the launching of the 2014 Water Safety Council of Fiji Annual Drowning Report on Friday.
