Wish of the voters

VOTING is about having a government and a good opposition, says Kuvala district representative Iliavi Waqa. "While everyone is talking about choosing the right leader or government, voting is important because we are also choosing the right opposition leader," he said.

"It's been eight years since our government had any kind of opposition and with this election, I hope we have an opposition that is able to hold the government accountable."

Also casting her vote yesterday was 21-year-old Reapi Tinai, who like many first-time voters at Nayavutoka Community Hall, expressed a wish to see a democratically-elected government in power.

Those casting their votes yesterday also included women of Matainananu and Delai Yadua. They all expressed a wish for leadership and governance that would give their children a good future.
