Confusion and concerns

Serafina Silaitoga
Thursday, September 04, 2014

CONFUSION, concerns, last-minute preparations for yesterday's pre-polling and hiring of boats to polling stations were highlights of the first day.

Some registered voters were caught off guard and didn't know anything about the pre-polling except the September 17 election.

So in the Udu Point area, villagers hired boats paying $100 to $150 to the polling station in Yasawa Village and canecutters in Dogoru and Savusavuitaqa areas took time off from the farm.

Cane labourer Basilio Salavuce said they only heard about the pre-polling on Tuesday night.
