Voters turn up for pre-polling, some 'caught off guard'

Update: 1:02PM MORE than 100 people from Nasukamai Village in Nasau, Ra, voted today, many reporting they were caught off guard by the pre-polling announcement.

"Most of us were just prepared for September 17," village headman Paula Kubu said.

"Some of us had gone to Lautoka and Rakiraki to take the children for the start of school but when they were told about the pre-polling they had to come back just to vote.

"So some paid $20 to more than $50 for fare."

The village community hall was used as a voting station and pre-polling at the village ends at 6pm today.
