Pre-polling preparations

THIRTY eight police personnel have teamed up with Fijian Elections Office officials in the North in preparation for the pre-polling today.

Divisional police commander Northern SSP Naulumatua Lutunacaucau yesterday said four personnel had already been deployed to Taveuni while the other 34 were expected to work with the officials throughout Vanua Levu.

"The personnel have gone to the Elections Office in Vakamasisuasua where they will meet up election officials there before being dispatched to the pre-polling venues," he said.

"Four of the personnel have already left for Taveuni and they will be assisting the officials there. The personnel have been briefed and also informed to team up and work closely with the election officials during the pre-polling period."

He said more personnel were expected to be deployed to monitor the situation on the ground come election day in two week's time.

The pre-polling venues in the Northern Division are Udu District School and Nabouono, Yaqaga, Nakavika, Namukailau, Savusavuitaqa, Nacula, Vunisavisavi, Bagasau, Vunidogoloa and Naduru village sheds, Nasealevu Village Hall and Naiviivi, Vudibasoga, Salialevu and Bua Primary Schools, Koroinasolo, Yasawa, Nagasauva, Navetau, Raviravi, Tabakau, Nakawaga, Muana and Namalata community halls.
