NATIONAL women's under-19 coach Dale Wise will be looking for players with the right attitude in her final squad for the upcoming FIBA Oceania U19 Basketball Championship.

Wise will trim her squad of 41 players to 18 next week and says only the committed and dedicated players would be given an opportunity to represent Fiji at the age group level as Fiji hosts its first U19 Oceania event in December.

The national women's basketball rep said a lot of players had shown commitment and hard work at training which has impressed her.

"I'm looking for players with the right attitude in the team," she said.

"Right now I have seen dedication and commitment from some players which is very pleasing, that's the kind of attitude that I'm looking for.

"I will not mind if you don't have the talent because hard work beats talent when talent won't work for us."

Wise who was also present at the Tuckers Ice Cream Fiji Secondary Schools Basketball Championship at the Vodafone Arena earlier this week was pleased with the performance of the West players who featured for Jasper Williams High School and Natabua High School.

"I saw a lot of improvement from the West players. Compared to the past six weeks when we started our training, the performance has really improved."

The Oceania event will also serve as the qualifying round for the World Championship.
