EVERGREEN Filo Korovulavula could not ask for anything better after sucessfully leading her Suva side for the last time to win the Digicel Punjas Netball Championship at Lautoka's multi-purpose court yesterday.
The experience and the class of the former national rep was a pillar of strength in the Suva team.
Despite age barrier, the 42-year-old midcourt player was in superb form for the national champions.
The Taveuni native said the win was a fitting farewell for her netball career.
"This is my last year for Suva netball and this win is a perfect present for me," said Korovulavula.
"I did not take part in the trials but was asked by the officials to be part of this team.
"The young girls needed experienced players like me and Matila especially in high-tempo game like the final.
"I am excited to again lead Suva to another title win and I thank all my teammates for their hard work."
Korovulavula said playing with young players inspired her to work harder.
"I am happy with my performance today especially running around the court with young players," she said.
"It's time to give our upcoming players the chance to play and showcase their talents."
Meanwhile, Suva defeated defending national under-21 champion Lautoka 27-26 in a nail-biting final.
Both teams were locked 20-all at full-time before the visitors stunned the home team with a win in the extra time.
