Legal action against Fiji's Elections Supervisor

By SHALVEEN CHAND
Saturday, August 23, 2014

Update: 6:01PM THE Electoral Commission has taken the Supervisor of Elections Mohammed Saneem to court to clarify what three days after the receipt of objection means.

Both parties interpreted that part of the Electoral Decree differently.

For the Commission, three days meant until midnight on Friday while Mr Saneem said it meant 4pm on Friday.

This led to Mr Saneem ignoring the decision of the Commission regarding the objection and review leading to the draw of the National Candidates List, which was issued on August 19.
