Special salute for Umaria in march through city

Shalveen Chand
Saturday, August 23, 2014

SUVA special administrator Chandu Umaria was given a Scouts honour in a march through Suva.

Mr Umaria said it was a proud moment for him as he stood in the podium at the Suva City Council office facing Victoria Pde.

"It reminds me of the days I was a Scout. It's something that makes a man out of a boy and teaches him not only discipline but life skills," he said.

"With the Hibiscus going on and now with the Scouts, Suva is the place to be this week.

"To all those who are in Suva this week enjoying their holidays, we at the SCC want them to feel safe and please enjoy Suva responsibly."

About 1000 primary school Scouts marched through Suva saluting the special administrator as they passed the SCC building.
