Plea for people to make wise choices

TUI Cakau Ratu Naiqama Lalabalavu has pleaded with people at his campaigns to make wise decisions over their choices at next month's election.

Ratu Naiqama led a team around the North last week holding campaigns in various districts in the three provinces of Cakaudrove, Bua and Macuata.

Speaking on behalf of his team, Ratu Savenaca Kamikamica said Ratu Naiqama also asked the villagers to allow other political parties into the villages to campaign.

"We didn't spoil or criticise any parties. We just spoke to the people about the importance of making wise decisions at the elections next month," he said.

"That is important and we believe that people should be guided well and given the right advice to help them make the right decisions.

"We also have two lawyers in our team and they were given time to attend to queries from the public."

Ratu Savenaca said the lawyers explained the 2013 Constitution in detail to people at the campaign meetings particularly the land and qoliqoli issues.

"We feel that was an important issue to discuss and inform our supporters about it and we did that.

"All we are doing is ensuring our supporters are well informed and prepare them well for the elections.

"We do know that media is effective but we have taken a new approach and that is to go ourselves to the people and reach out.

"We believe in that way, our message is more effective because we are directly involved with the people."
