Resource centres to help women generate income

Shayal Devi
Friday, August 22, 2014

TWO more resource centres for income-generating projects have been completed in the Western Division.

These are in Nativi, Ra, and Semo in Sigatoka.

Minister for Women, Social Welfare and Poverty Alleviation Dr Jiko Luveni said the centres were ready to open.

"We have taken up the 'one centre one product' initiative so that the women in that centre concentrate on just one product to ensure quality of the product and consistency of supply," Dr Luveni said.

"In Semo, they have decided to improve the quality of pottery-making. We may bring in someone from Indonesia to help them design and maybe improve the quality of the pottery."
