Title defence on track

THE Suva under-14 team made a good start to their title defence in the Rewa Galaxy Kaji Rugby tournament with a 17-0 win over Tailevu yesterday.

The Capital City side ran in three tries, one of which was converted, and prevented their opponents from scoring any point at the ANZ Stadium in Suva.

Last year's under-14 finalist, Nadi were not as lucky as they lost 5-7 to Cakaudrove.

Competition organising president George Seruiratu said they were expecting tough competition and some upsets in the tournament.

"It was a good start to the competition and we are glad it has started and the kids and families are enjoying Kaji Rugby," he said.

"At first, the executives were like 'hiring the ANZ Stadium would be too costly' but I told them that the kids are the priority.

"And this is development, allowing these kids to show their talent on the big stage on a good ground."

All the pool and round robin games are expected to be completed today.
