Church elders under scrutiny

Luke Rawalai
Wednesday, August 20, 2014

MEMBER of the bose vanua o Bua Ratu Viliame Tagivetaua recently told the council that church elders in the province were still consuming yaqona during the tabu period.

Ratu Viliame told members of the meeting that a few church elders refused to observe the abstinence period implemented by the church.

He said these acts by people with senior position in the church were quite confusing.

Methodist Church in Fiji general secretary Reverend Tevita Nawadra said such tabu was yet to be formerly sanctioned by the church.
