5.5 earthquake shakes Vanuatu

Update: 1:02PM AT about 6.23am this morning (Fiji time), a 5.5 magnitude earthquake was recorded in Vanuatu.

A report from the Mineral Resources Department this morning confirmed that the earthquake was a medium sized one with deep depth source location, however there was no report from Vanuatu and thus does not pose any threat to the region.

"Vanuatu 320.01km NNW of Port Vila, Vanuatu. 1,011.91km SE of Honiara, Solomon Island. 1,254.30km NW of Suva, Fiji," it reported.
