FORMER world number one Vijay Singh managed to make the cut at the Fiji International at the Natadola Bay Championship Golf Course yesterday.

With the cut at five over par, Singh finished the 36 holes at three over par 147.

Out of the 120 golfers only 11 managed an under par score on the second day.

Meanwhile, New Zealander Jake Higginbottom is eying the second professional win of his golfing career.

The 20-year-old fired a second round three under par 69 to move to the top of the leader board for a total of 137.

He holds a two-shot lead from Australians Cameron Smith, Andrew Dodt and Steven Jeffress.

Higginbottom won his first title on the PGA Tour of Australasia in 2012 claiming the BMW New Zealand Open as an amateur.

Two days after the win, he turned professional.

Yesterday Higginbottom was bogey free round until the final, before his first blemish on the card.

Higginbottom said he played a steady game in the second round.

"I made only one bogey which was on the ninth hole which was my last," he said.

"I had couple of good putts on the 17th and 18th for birdies which got my round going and which was good.

"It's a great course and it is challenging especially when the wind gets up. I will try and stick to my game plan to be smart and aggressive as well.

"Out here you may want to have as many shots as you can to be in front. You still have to make birdies but in saying that, even par is a good score.

"It is always a challenge to be leading and that's why we play to be in the position to win."

The final round will be played tomorrow.
