Vodafone Hibiscus Festival contestants were among the hundreds of people who took part in the Sports World Fun Run in Suva last weekend.

The fun run began from Damodar City Centre complex and ended at Albert Park.

"The point of the fun run is to encourage the community to come out and celebrate the beginning of the Hibiscus Festival," Hibiscus Event Group public relations officer Lice Movono-Rova said.

"We have a week of lead-up events. These are basically events to let people know that the Hibiscus Festival is starting soon."

She said the fun run was to encourage families to come out and enjoy the weather and the spirit of the festival.

"The festival prides itself as a family affair where everyone can come out and enjoy the various rides, food and entertainment — basically there is something to do for everybody."
