Lelean U18 wary

Lelean Memorial School is not taking its Coke Zero Deans under-18 opponents Ratu Kadavulevu School (RKS) lightly despite the latter missing key players for the showdown on Saturday at Churchill Park in Lautoka.

RKS will be without key players Joseva Rauga, Ratu Epeneri Uluiviti, Timoci Meya, Ratu Filimoni Nawabalavu and Filipe Qoro who joined the Fiji U18 7s team for the Youth Olympic Games in China.

Lelean U18 captain Eroni Mawi believed the absence of these players would make the Lodoni boys stronger.

He said they were wary of the challenge and were leaving no stone unturned in preparation for the showdown this weekend.

Yesterday, the Fiji Secondary Schools Rugby Union in collaboration with sponsors Coca-Cola Amatil (Fiji) Limited unveiled the captains of the teams that will be competing in the finals.

RKS was not present but union president Napolioni Silatolu said the school was informed of the event. Western schools were also unable to make it to the event held in Suva.

Lelean which plays alongside RKS in the Eastern Zone competition had the upper hand when the two met in the zonal competition.

But Mawi, who hails from Tovu village in Totoya, Lau, said the final would be another game.

"We are not looking at what we achieved in the past. We have prepared well and we know RKS will be tough but we will give our best," Mawi said.

"We are not underestimating them."

Mawi, while thanking the principal and the teachers for their support said they were banking on their fans to help them hoist the prestigious title.

Meanwhile, Silatolu said they were expecting tough games in the finals.

CCAF national sales manager Lawrence Tikaram said they were pleased with the organisation of the Deans competition this year.
