JWC focuses on playoffs

JOHN Wesley College (JWC) has left its disappointing departure from the Fiji Secondary Schools Coke Zero Deans under-18 finals behind to focus on the playoffs.

The side will play Suva Grammar in the U18 playoffs semi-final on Saturday at 11.50am at Bidesi Park in Laucala Bay.

JWC managed a 16-all draw against the Deans U18 defending champions Ratu Navula College in the quarters last week but lost the game on technical grounds.

Ratu Navula scored the first points in the game and as per the rule, was awarded the match.

JWC principal Maciu Rika said they were focused on the match against Suva Grammar.

The team will need to win in order to avoid the danger of playing the promotion/relegation against the Tier I winner.

"Our preparation is same as any other team. We are taking the same approach and would give everything to win," Rika said.

JWC defeated Suva Grammar in the Southern Zone competition but Rika expects a different approach from the former champions this weekend.

"Suva Grammar is a good side. They are in the same zone as us but the result will be determined in the match."
