HAVING the ability to manoeuvre and command students during a cadet passing out parade requires leadership skills.

Such skills are found in Year 13 student and head boy of Ratu Sukuna Memorial School, Maciu Matavesi.

Matavesi, who hails from Namena Village in Dawasamu, Tailevu, was awarded the baton of honour out of the 949 students who took part in the parade.

He said it was an honour to be the recipient of the award, especially with his family being present to watch Prime Minister Rear Admiral (Ret) Voreqe Bainimarama present him the award .

"I did not expect to receive the baton of honour," he said.
