NADI has relegated Lautoka to the promotion-relegation play-off after a 36-14 bonus point win at Lautoka's Churchill Park yesterday.
The win also cemented Nadi's position in the Skipper Tuna semi-finals after coming from a 0-7 deficit to outclass the Sugar City boys to six tries to two.
National 7s rep Semi Kunatani played a grand game at lock scoring a runaway try for the visitors early in the second half.
His national 7s team mate Vatemo Ravouvou who was also outstanding at fly half scored Nadi's second try after a lapse of concentration from the Lautoka players.
The Iliesa Tanivula-coached side made a slow start allowing its opposition to dictate terms.
Lautoka's hardworking prop cum lock Kalivati Tawake opened the floodgates when he bulldozed his way through the heavy traffic to take his team into the lead.
Fly half Sunia Talebula added the extras with the conversion.
The try was a wake-up call for the Jetsetters as they finally found their rhythm and turned the tables on Lautoka with a try to prop Maika Ramasima .
Big boot Venisemani Ratubalavu made no mistake with the conversion to level the game 7-all on the stroke of halftime.
Nadi started the second spell with a bang scoring two quick tries through Ravouvou and Kunatani in the first five minutes.
Former national 7s rep Jiuta Takubu rubbed salt into the Lautoka wound with a try in the third quarter before wingers Cyril Reece and Sunia Vosikata added two more tries to their team's tally.
The Maroons managed a consolation try in the dying stages of the game but it was not enough to win them the game.
Tanivula said he was satisfied with his team's performance.
"It's a satisfying result," he said.
"We were both desperate for a win, Lautoka was desperate to avoid playing in the promotion-relegation likewise for us we wanted a win to cement our spot in the top four.
"We started slow but we were composed , the passes were not connected something we worked on in the second spell," he said.
