CBM I edged Lomaiviti Grads to win the NewWorld Cup challenge at the National Netball Centre in Suva yesterday.

The Unaisi Rokoura-coached side defeated Matila Waqanidrola's Lomaiviti Grads 22-21 in the Suva Netball Association organised tournament.

CBM I with the players such as Maria Lutua, Unaisi Rauluni, Taufa Taga and Lusi Robanakadavu defeated Lautoka's Seni Teteva 22-10 while Lomaiviti Grads, which also had the services of Koyamainavure sisters Lyn, Mili and Lela, overcame Veiyasana Cactus 23-16 in the semi-finals.

The two teams will meet in the Suva Netball Association super grade final this coming Saturday.

In the men's grade, Suva's USP defeated Lomaiviti Dynamics 17-16 to win the title.

USP beat Rovers 19-14 while Lomaiviti Dynamics overcame Czarina 26-19 in the semis.

Tournament co-ordinator Tanya Vatubua was pleased with the success of the day-long competition.

"As expected, the competition level was really high because it had the top clubs from the country participating.

"It was a celebration of netball skills from the national players playing for their own clubs as well as those playing in the men's grade," she said.
