Volleyball names squad

THE Fiji Volleyball Federation has named their training squad for the 2015 Pacific Games which would be held in Papua New Guinea.

While the final travelling squad is expected to be named either at the end of this year or the beginning of next year, the training squad could compete at the Oceania Games later this year.

Federation administrator Kenneth Lidise said the 24 member men's and women's squad would meet as soon as possible to discuss their plans for training and competitions.

He said the men's side would have their training this afternoon at the FMF Gymnasium while the women's squad would meet at the Fiji Association of Sports and National Olympic Committee boardroom tomorrow at 2pm.

"From now until we name the final squad, they would just be training and having some competitions," Lidise said.

"There is word that the Oceania Games could be held later this year and if possible, the training squad could compete at the event.

"But the main reason for us coming together is to prepare for next year's Pacific Games."
