FRCA launches assessment system

Update: 3:47PM THE Fiji Revenue and Customs Authority officially launched the Commissioner's Assessment system in the Western Division today.

FRCA chief executive Jitoko TIkolevu said the Commissioner's Assessment will assess the tax liability of a taxpayer.

"It will inform whether a taxpayer had paid the correct tax, has a refund or if he or she needs to pay more taxes," he said.

According to the authority, Pay As You Earn became a final withholding tax in 2013.

"Unlike previous practice, where employees filed their returns every year, the burden is now on employers to file their Electronic Monthly Summaries (EMS)."
