A 20-year-old Nawaka student was airlifted to the Colonial War Memorial Hospital over the weekend after sustaining serious injuries when he was allegedly assaulted by two men.

In a statement, police spokesman Inspector Atunaisa Sokomuri said the tertiary student was in a critical condition.

"The victim followed his former girlfriend to her house and upon arrival he was questioned then assaulted by her brother and his workmate," said Insp Sokomuri.

"The victim was admitted at Lautoka Hospital and upon doctor's advice he was airlifted in a helicopter to CWM Hospital on Sunday."

He said the two had been interviewed and released while police investigations continue.
