CHAMPIONS CBM I thrashed Tabuya Gold 37-12 in the NewWorld Suva Netball Association semi-final at the National Netball Centre yesterday to book its place in the final.

The top side in the super grade competition will meet Lomaiviti Grads in the final in two weeks time. Lomaiviti Grads defeated Veiyasana Cactus 16-12 in the other semis.

The Unaisi Rokoura-coached CBM I with the likes of shooters Unaisi Rauluni and Maria Lutua, dynamic centre Taufa Taga and tough defender Lusi Robanakadavu is the hot favourites for the title.

Lomaiviti Grads is a young side led by national skipper Matila Waqanidrola and ably supported by the Koyamainavure sisters Lyn, Mili and Lela.

Suva Netball club games co-ordinator Tanya Vatubua predicts a close final.

"It will be a very close and physical game. CBM I have all its top players back and Lomaiviti Grads is a young but very formidable side," Vatubua said.

"All the grade finals will be close considering the semi-final results."

Vatubua said they would be hosting the NewWorld Cup challenge which would feature top teams from the neighbouring districts next weekend.

She said top two men's and women's clubs from Lautoka, Nadi, Tailevu, Navosa and Nasinu would be participating in this challenge.

"Last year, we had only women's teams competing in this challenge. We will field four men's and four women's teams in this competition that will compete for $1000 prizemoney in each division."
