PM hands over $1.6m as royalty for land use

Wednesday, July 09, 2014

Update: 7:51PM THE Prime Minister Rear Admiral (Ret) Voreqe Bainimarama today handed over a cheque of $1.6million to the members of the Matanikorovatu clan of Kalabu Village as royalty payment for a piece of land which was used as the Nasinu Quarry and leased to government in 1931.

He thanked the members of that mataqali for allowing their land to be used  by the then Public Works Department.

"It even includes children registered in the Vola ni Kawa Bula. It is fair and it is equitable. And I hope you use this money wisely to improve your lives and those of your family," he said..

It is a wonderful opportunity and I urge you all to seize it.
